Week X

Yet again our group member did not show. Therefore, we have replaced him. We started filming this week, shooting the opening scene of our piece. This was quite slow progress, but I think it is only because it was our first day, and we lacked organisation. After filming the opening, we realised that we now need another cast member, as the person playing a student in our film is now playing the protagonist.

We met up later in the week to film the 'milkshake' scene of our film. In this scene a girl (student) asks the janitor to bin her milkshake for her by throwing it at him. The janitor is caught off guard and is covered by the milkshake. For this scene we bought a big bottle of milkshake, and numerous paper cups from the canteen. We spent a good while practicing throwing, and throwing milkshakes at the wall to make sure we were to get the effect we wanted. Practicing was essential, because we would only get one attempt at this, as the milkshake would stain. This turned out okay, as somehow we all managed to hold in our laughter as the 'janitor' had a milkshake thrown at him.

The final scene of the day was a chase scene, where I was running from the janitor.

At the end of the day my group and I came to the conclusion that I am to play two students in the film, as we have lost contact from one of our group members.. I am going to bring in a pair of sunglasses when it is my scene, and I bought a wig this morning.

Week IV

Week 4 I sat down with a member of my group, and we began script writing. As we were writing the script was more like a screenplay, so we decided to write a screenplay first and then turn it into a script later. With this method, we are taking a more narrative approach to begin with, and then can consider the technical details later, which turned out to be much easier. We started writing the screenplay with a rough idea of the story, but we only had one character so far, and lacked any real depth. However, we knew the beginning and ending, and so were simply writing Act 2 (when considering the three act structure). We went through a number of ideas, spending a few hours getting the screenplay completed.

Week IX

This week we were adamant to start filming. I had contacted our film projects protagonist and had been assured he would show. However, once my group arrived ready to film, the 'janitor' of our film did not show, and was impossible to get a hold of. My group and I have decided this member has one more week, or else we will replace him.

Week V

With a completed screenplay it was time to turn it into script form. This was my first time scripting, so I was learning how to do it as I went along. I learnt the correct way to indent, line spaces, font, specifying location, and writing dialogue. I completed the script this week, however, it can only be considered the first draft because the rest of my group have not seen it yet.
